Acrylated polyethylene glycol NHS ester is a bifunctional PEG crosslinker, classified as a heterofunctional di-substituted polyethylene glycol derivative. One end is modified with an acrylate group, and the other end is modified with an NHS (N-hydroxysuccinimide) group. The acrylate can participate in the formation of light-curable gel systems in polymers with double-bond modifications, while the NHS can react with amino groups (-NH2) on bioactive proteins to form stable amide bonds. Therefore, it is possible to achieve the coupling of target proteins or drugs with double bond-modified polymers, prolonging the sustained-release cycle and avoiding burst release of the drugs. Material systems based on this principle have been widely applied in biomedical fields such as drug delivery and protein anchoring.
