Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) analysis


Apply a small amplitude alternating current potential wave with different frequency to the electrochemical system, and measure the ratio of alternating current potential to current signal (the ratio is the impedance of the system) with the change of sine wave frequency ω, or the change of impedance phase angle Φ with ω. Furthermore, the electrode process dynamics, double layer and diffusion are analyzed, and the mechanism of electrode material, solid electrolyte, conductive polymer and corrosion protection are studied.

Functional use: mainly used for testing electrochemical reaction process. Measurement and analysis of electrochemical noise

Electrochemical noise (EN) refers to the random non-equilibrium fluctuation of the electrical state parameters (such as electrode potential, external current density, etc.) during the evolution of electrochemical dynamic system. It is a nondestructive monitoring technology in situ. According to the different apparent current or voltage signals detected, electrochemical noise can be divided into current noise or voltage noise. The analysis methods include frequency domain analysis and time domain analysis. Common time-frequency conversion techniques in frequency domain analysis include fast Fourier transform (FFT), maximum entropy method (MEM), wavelet transform (WT).

If the electrodes are anodes or cathodes, the resulting curves are called anodic polarization curves or cathodic polarization curves respectively. The polarization curve is divided into four regions: active dissolution region, transition passivation region, stable passivation region and over passivation region.
