Tetrahydroxybenzene is a white crystal. It is soluble in ethanol and forms a colorless to slightly yellow clear and transparent solution after dissolution, without obvious turbidity, precipitation or special color changes.
During the dissolution process, since the molecules of tetrahydroxybenzene contain three aldehyde groups and have strong hydrogen bond interactions with ethanol, the dissolution rate is relatively fast. Even at high concentrations, the solution remains clear, only with a slight increase in viscosity, without gelation or abnormal color changes. If turbidity occurs, it is mostly due to impurities in the raw materials or water in the ethanol, which can be solved by recrystallizing the raw materials or using anhydrous ethanol.
