HOPG (Highly Oriented Pyrolytic Graphite) is a new type of high-purity carbon material. It is a new type of graphite material prepared by pyrolytic graphite after high temperature and high pressure treatment. Its performance is close to that of single crystal graphite. Key applications include X-ray monochromators, neutron filters and monochromators, basic graphite properties studies, and basic studies of large-scale graphite interlayer compounds, providing microscopic analysts with a reusable smooth surface. Unlike mica, highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) is completely non-polar for elemental analysis and has only a carbon atom background signal in the analysis signal. Highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) has excellent surface smoothness and can be used as a blank background.
Class A cracking surface does not show any delamination, and the mounting angle is 0.5° +/- 0.1°. The transverse grain size is usually on the order of a few micrometers to a few tenths of a micrometer, wherein the grade A can reach about ten micrometers and the longitudinal grain size is about several tens of nanometers. This grade is the most highly ordered product, generally in instrument calibration or special scientific research, of course, can also be used as a scientific study to obtain single crystal graphene samples.
Grade B Each highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) block yields 15-20 splits with a mosaic angle of 0.8° +/- 0.2°. The transverse grain size is usually on the order of a few microns to a few dozen microns, and the vertical grain size is about ten nanometers. It is suitable for most scientific research fields and is easy to repair and update. Some users prefer this highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) compared to the A grade because the split steps are slightly corrugated and the sample is easier to fix (with better adhesion).
Class C Mounting angle > 1.5°. Can be applied to most scientific research fields. The transverse grain size is usually on the order of a few microns to a few dozen microns, with a longitudinal grain size of around a few nanometers. However, due to its low price, it is suitable for students to experiment.
Shelf life: 1 year at room temperature, dry and protected from light
